Knight Equine Mare + Your Stallion* Choice! |
*Any breed of stallion as long Fresh/Frozen is available and the resulting foal meets Mainbook KNN/EU breeding requirements.
We utilize Equine Reproduction Concepts, LLC (located in Amissville, VA), which maintains it's own recipient mare herd (our clients also have the ability to use their own recipients) and they lease them out for $2,500 ($3,000 for Draft mares) from the duration of 45 days pregnant until 6 months after birth.
Another option is to freeze and stored for transfer at a later date (storage fees will apply). We are also looking into the logistics of having embryos shipped to other facilities for implantation. Sending our donor mares to other reproduction facilities/ET programs can also be discussed.
Embryo price is dependent on the mare chosen but are typically between $1,000-$3,000 per successful embryo implantation or shipment.
The majority of our donor mares may be sent to a full service reproduction program for embryo retrieval at any time, but to ensure your mare preference remains open during the chosen breeding season, please book your embryo as early as possible.

Costs & Process.
Embryo purchase does not come with a LFG- Client assumes all risk (similarly to assuming a breeding lease). |
A (non-refundable) deposit of $2,000 is due before sending the donor mare off for breeding & ET (this cost includes the enrollment fee for the reproduction facility's ET program, basic breeding/ET fees, and the cost of approximately one month's board at the facility for the donor mare). |
Purchaser will be billed for any extraneous veterinary care administered to the donors/recipients as well as for any boarding/breeding costs of the donor mare past the 1st month. Purchaser can bring their own recipient mare(s) to ERC and will be charged for the management/board of the recipient(s) at time of arrival. If ERC recipient mares ($2,500-3,000 for 18 month lease) are utilized, management/board fees, as well as leasing fees for recipient mare(s) are only due after a confirmed 45 day pregnancy. |
Purchaser must contract separately with the stallion owner for the fresh/frozen costs. (similarly to assuming a breeding lease) |
A successful embryo is defined as an embryo successfully implanted into a recipient mare (or retrieved and frozen/shipped). |
Embryo purchase price ($1,000-$3,000/per embryo) is due before any recipient mare(s) leave the reproduction facility. As well as any other remaining balances owed to ERC. |
In the case of frozen and shipped embryos, the embryo purchase price is due before shipment. |
Recipient & Young Horse Board.
We purchased a 37 acre homestead in 2018 located in Caswell County, NC (just south of Danville, VA). We have fenced in approximately 5 acres and are in the process of expanding and improving our pastures. On a select & limited basis, our clients may have the option to board leased recipient mares on our property during the majority of their pregnancy (mare's are sent out for veterinarian foal watch during last trimester) and until weaning. As space allows, young horse board may also be available to our clients.
